Pitching woes haunt Jeannette
Pitching woes continue to dictate the outcome of the Lady Jays 2011 season.
Sophomore Delaney Cortazzo, who's been nursing an injury to her right wrist for some time now, managed to still pitch a decent game, allowing only two runs up to the top of the fifth, when the injury appeared to start getting the better of her allowing Mt. Pleasant to explode for 11 more runs.
Jeannette scored their first two runs in the bottom of the second to tie the score at two a piece, and added another two in the bottom of the fifth off the hot bats of the Sommer girls, Chelsea with a triple and Kelly with a solo shot.
The Lady Jays would add another run
in the sixth, off an RBI double from pitcher Cortazzo, but the Lady Vikings weren't about to let this one go, adding six more runs in the top of the seventh and shutting down Jeannette's last efforts to go on and win by a final score of 19-5.
