Youth Football hits the Trifecta
SPARROWS: Jaden Canady celebrates his second entry into the end zone of Saturday's match up against Guyasuta. The Sparrows struggled in the fourth to hold off Guyasuta's attack and was forced to settle with a tie game at 4-4 (One point for each touchdown).
With Saturday's tie, the Sparrows are still looking for their first win of the 2011 season, losing last week to Plum 3-1.
BLUE JAYS: Matteo Dalacandro, say that with me (in your Italian voice)...Matteo Dalacandro....rolls right off your tongue, doesn't it? This little speedster crushed any hopes of a fourth quarter Guyasuta comeback during the Blue Jays game with a 45 yard INT return for a touchdown to finalize the score at 26-6. The Blue Jays stand at 1-2-0 now, losing last week to Plum in a nail biter, 8-6.
A special shout out to Toby Cline who scored his first touchdown yesterday as a Blue Jay, from 10 yards out. Congrats Toby!!
EAGLES: The Eagles found themselves in quite the battle yesterday leading only by a touchdown till late in the fourth. With 59 seconds left on the clock, Eagles QB Trey Cunningham was able to de-wind the sails of Guyasuta with a 62 yard TD run and seal the deal for Jeannette by a 12-0 final score.
The win improves the Eagles to a 2-1-0 record, including last week's win over Plum, 20-6.
Hawks QB Seth Spino wasted no time in finding pay dirt with a 35 yard jaunt in the first quarter, a 40 yard INT return for a TD in the second and a 52 yard sprint for his third score in the fourth quarter leaving no doubt that the Hawks meant business in a mercy romp of Guyasuta. Swade Redman added a 45 yard run late in the fourth to finalize the score at 54-0.
The Hawks improve to 2-1-0. Their first win of the season came last week over Plum, 46-0.
