The WPIAL has announced the new football alignment for all classes for the upcoming 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The most significant changes come in the AAAA and AAA divisions, who will now be reduced to three conferences each. This will result in the top five teams from each conference qualifing for the WPIAL playoffs, as well as the best sixth-place team.

Class AA and Class A will remain the same with four conferences, however some teams have been relocated into different conferences.

Here's the new changes for Class AA:

Section 1: Burgettstown, Keystone Oaks, Quaker Valley, McGuffey, Seton-La Salle, South Allegheny, South Fayette, South Park, Steel Valley

Section 2: Burrell, Deer Lakes, East Allegheny, Ford City, Freeport, Kittanning, Shady Side Academy, Summit Academy, Valley

Section 3: Aliquippa, Beaver, Beaver Falls, Ellwood City, Freedom, Mohawk, New Brighton, Riverside

Section 4: Brownsville, Charleroi, Greensburg Central Catholic, Jeannette, Mt. Pleasant, Southmoreland, Washington, Waynesburg, Yough

Aliquippa, Jeannette and GCC have all elected to play up a classification.
