Basketball playoffs begin

It's the best time of the year for any sport, I'm talking playoff time. Here's a quick glance at how both Jeannette teams will get things started off.

Boys:

The top seeds in class AA are Monessen, Beaver Falls, Sto-Rox and Summit Academy, in that order. Jeannette will face Fort Cherry (7-15) in the preliminary round this Saturday February 18, at North Hills. Tip off set for 3:00pm. The winner will advance to face the winner of Brownsville - Wilkinsburg match up, at a site and time to be determined.

Girls:

Our Lady Jays have captured the third seed in class AA and won't hit the courts until Tuesday, February 21 when they'll face the winner of the Ford City - New Brighton match up. Top seeds in girls consist of Seton-LaSalle, Bishop Canevin, Jeannette and Deer Lakes.

Note of Interest: Ciara Gregory is the WPIAL's top scorer in AA averaging 26.7 points a game.
