Hawks turn GCC's world, upside down
There wasn't much on the line for Jeannette, other than maybe some pride. But for Greensburg Central Catholic it was another story.
Jeannette, with their current record of 9-3, are virtually stuck at third place in Section 4 behind Frazier, who's in second place and GCC, who's alone at the top and had already clinched the section championship prior to tonight's game. So the worst case scenario that could come out of tonights match up?, Jeannette could lose and then begin preparations for the playoffs.
That's not how it went down though.
Instead, senior Demetrious Cox would score team high 19 points, Orlando Morgan would add 17, Duke Brown and Julian Batts would each add 8 to lift the Hawks over the Centurions by a final score of 63-62. The loss would be the first section loss for GCC this season and would also put an end to a 14 game winning streak that the Centurions were currently enjoying.
So if you're a Jayhawk fan, like me, I'm pretty positive you're having a great weekend so far with the Lady Jays win over GCC last night and the boys win tonight. Am I right?
Jeannette will play one last regular season non-section game tomorrow against Bishop McCort at home, tip off set for 7:30.....and then they can prepare for the playoffs!
