Building seasons

Written by Dave on . Posted in Baseball

I haven't really had the baseball/softball season that I was hoping to have here on the site, as you have probably noticed. Reason being that my other job, the one that actually provides funding to pay the bills, has unexpectedly (yet hopefully temporarily) taken over my life. But in all reality, that's actually okay, as long as they keep depositing a lucrative paycheck into my bank account come payday. (....and you'll be happy to know, as am I, that they have been doing just that!)

So in short, that is basically the reason you haven't seen much in the way of baseball or softball articles, images and videos on the site. I trust that you would do the same in my position and hope that you can understand where my priorities lay.

Speaking of unexpected seasons though, I believe it would be safe to say that the Jayhawks and Lady Jays are in a similar boat, as mine.

Catch the Roundball Classic, Live

Written by Dave on . Posted in Basketball

Basketball anyone? It may be baseball season, but we still got a little basketball left in us to get out.

It's time for the annual Roundball Classic from Geneva College. The event features top seniors from the WPIAL and City Leagues, including our very own Demetrious Cox and Dominique Hall.

Dominique get's the girls tipped off at 2:00pm when the Class AA girls go up against the Class A girls, while Dede will lead his AA squad in the 6:00pm game against the Class AAA seniors.

All games can be watched live over at westmorelandsports.com

Struggles continue for Lady Jays

I'd like to be able to say that the Lady Jays got robbed, or maybe even that they faced their first loss of the season today...but those would both be incorrect. And it would be very easy also, to say they lost because half of the team is in Florida on a band trip, but that's not the reason they lost either.

Riverview busted out of the gates with four quick runs in the top of the second inning and never bothered to look back, handing Jeannette a 12-1 loss, their sixth of the season (fourth in a row). Jeannette's only run came off a double from pitcher Nicole Hall, in the bottom of the third.
