In Jayhawk History - October 7, 1983
On Friday October 7, 1983 it was Homecoming here in Jeannette and the Jayhawks were playing host to the Apollo Ridge Vikings. Jeannette kicker Mark Brasco set the Pennsylvania record by kicking his 20th career field goal. He also was perfect with every extra point on the night and he sent four kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks.
In the 31-7 Allegheny Conference victory over Apollo Ridge on that historic night Maurice Chamberlain scored two touchdowns and accumulated 127 yards rushing. Quarterback Dante Wiley threw two touchdown passes, one to Rich Miller and the other to Doug Bold. Wiley was also the holder on the record breaking Brasco field goal. The Jayhawks defense was led by Chuck Blansett, Al Rivardo, Vince Giaquinto and Jeff Sarnelli.
